The second nomination is for the British Farming Awards: Diversification of the Year! The winner of this category will be announced on Thursday 20th October. Read about the 2022 shortlist here: https://www.britishfarmingawards.co.uk/shortlist/

Farm shop seasonal specials

As we ease into the shooting season we are pleased to offer delicious local game birds in the farm shop this week. Please contact us to order your wild partridge or duck.

Venison lovers will be happy to hear that wild local venison is now back in season. Lean, high in protein and packed with B vitamins and iron, wild venison is a healthy choice too.

Our fantastic value Family Meat Box is available for just £22. and includes:

  • 4 pork chops,

  • 4 pork sausages (traditional, Toulouse or spicy),

  • 4 burgers (beef or venison),

  • 4 koftas or kebabs.

If all that's not enough to get you salivating, we also have our free range, home reared pork and local beef available and homegrown seasonal vegetables as the perfect accompaniment.

Winter turnips

Our fodder turnips are looking good in the autumn. We have cleared our oldest asparagus bed and replaced it with turnips which will feed the sheep when the grass runs out later this winter. They will be tucked up in the barn as they don't like the wet. They would be most put out having to graze a muddy turnip field. Luckily sheep are less precious and will enjoy something different to eat in the depths of winter!

Summer Mini Farmers Club

What a fantastic two weeks of Mini Farmers Holiday Club fun! Over 150 children enjoyed our farm learning how to care for our animals, build dens, herd sheep, forage, crop vegetables, make a bug hotel, learn where honey comes from and so much more. Safe to say, our Mini Farmers were fantastic, they learnt new skills, tried new things, were outside, had fun and were a great Mini Farmer team. For more information on what our mini farmers got up to, please see our dedicated blog post.
